Faith   Mar 26, 2007
Victoria Murray kept yet another marriage together by reminding us of God's promise. Anya had to endure pain from a rapist then had to tell Braxton (her husband), that she was pregnant. I was elated about her godly decsion to keep the baby and how Braxton decided to step up to the plate to be a good husband as well as a father to this child. Trials and faith aren't always as easy as they may seem.
Add me to the list of the DISAPPOINTED **spoiler mention**  Jan 2, 2007
OK, I have heard pretty nice things about VCM's writing, so I picked this book up, as well as Temptation, from my library. Even though the cover art of Temptation was more intriguing, I decided to read this one first. Now I'm upset that I did b/c I'm wondering if this is what I can expect.

I had several issues with this story. First, being the length. It wasn't halfway through the book before I wondered when we were going to get to the story as described on the back of the book. It should not take half of a book (in a slow moving story) to get to the "action."

Second, the characters. As a main character, ANYA, was not very likeable. I would agree that she often put her needs ahead of Braxton's. She insisted on counseling (which they completely needed), yet we rarely saw comprimise from her. I am all for entrepreneurship(sp), but come on she constantly blew him off. On top of that, she's having second thoughts or contrary thoughts, yet where is the discussion about it.

Then allllll of a sudden...we get introduced to her second thoughts, and here comes the argumentative/pushy/impatient/add whatever adjective side of Braxton. Give me a break, it didn't take a genious to see where we were headed. All the while David (useless extra character) is this compassionate, understanding of her work life soul that she is intrigued by. The whole book felt like one big "buh bye" to Braxton, I almost shouted "just end it already!"

Sasha didn't mean much to the story. As soon as the character was introduced, I knew her only purpose was to be saved at the end. Which, DO NOT GET ME WRONG, is GREAT...but predictable all the same.

Who didn't see who the culprit would be? I mean, it could only have been two individuals. Even then, it makes no sense. I won't spoil it, but I'm sure you'll have questions.

The end of the book blew me. Not happy at all. Not so sure I want to even read Temptation.
"Not So Joyous"  Sep 30, 2006
This novel was a disappointment to me because it was boring. Anya got on my nerves big time. Her being a christian is great but when it came to her cousin Sasha, to me it was like Anya was shoving her beliefs down Sasha's throat. Their grandmother Madear had Anya, Sasha, and Anya's brother Donovan in church when they were growing up so it's not like Sasha doesn't know the Lord. I believe that God wants christians to bring lost souls to Christ, but I don't think they should be hounded on. God wants us to be examples for lost souls to follow. Braxton, Anya's fiancee, got a bum rap. All his good intentions resulted in arguments with Anya. Everything she wanted him to do, he did but things he wanted to do, it was a problem for her. Case in point, when she was brutally assaulted and became pregnant, she expected him to go along with whatever she wanted to do. What do you do in a situation like that? Then there's David who I think was a waste of space in the book. Madear's bad treatment of Sasha because of her skin color and the texture of her hair...what's up with that?!!! I was disappointed Ms. Murray...BIG TIME.

This was my first time reading a book from VICTORIA CHRISTOPHER MURRAY, but it was a good book!A little predictable at times but over all pretty good.It blessed me a lot,and the ending was very good!
Faith is alway there  Jun 28, 2006
The book Joy gave me a clearer understanding of adversity. Sometime going though adversity is what's needed so we can understand what struggle is all about. you can be Rich,Happy & fruitful and still have to go though adversity so you can know the power that God has and to remind us of the struggle his only son endured for us. I myself is facing Adversity and since reading the book "Joy" I now know that if faith can bring Anya Mitchell character though what she endured, it just a matter of believeing. I believe if a person hold on too their faith and God's promises their is nothing they can not get though and know he will never let them down....
