Item Description...
Overview
Jim Fletcher admits to fascination when it comes to what people think about the end of the world. Will it come in a cataclysm? In an inferno? Will it come at all? Is Al Gore right, will we melt like slumbering snowmen? Or are we truly running to a place of bliss? Is there a hell? Is God real? Does He look like Charlton Heston?

The realm of Bible prophecy fascinates millions of people, yet today there is a disconnect between true Bible prophecy and the everyday lives of people living in the real world. Jim Fletcher fills that void with a look at just how relevant (and true) Bible prophecy really is. Writing in a style that brings to mind authors such as Donald Miller and Rob Bell, Fletcher walks readers through the opinions of people from the famous to the obscure and then takes them back to what the Bible says to show us that there really is nothing to fear.

Publishers Description
The realm of Bible prophecy fascinates millions of people, yet today there is a disconnect between true Bible prophecy and the everyday lives of people living in American popular culture. Bible prophecy experts are generally Christian conservatives/fundamentalists who talk about the Rapture, the antichrist, and the mark of the beast. Yet while those subjects titillate audiences, they do so in the same way the films of Stephen King scare us. Jim Fletcher fills that void with a look at just how relevant (and true) Bible prophecy really is, showing how: . Despite the mockery of the Bible today, we are in fact living in the last days of world history, as outlined in the Hebrew and Christian scriptures . God plainly reveals Himself in the Bible, and how an understanding of this can satisfy that human longing to know who is "out there" and what is happening in our world today. The writing model for this book is Blue Like Jazz (Donald Miller; Thomas Nelson, 2003) and Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith (Rob Bell; Zondervan, 2005).

Reviews - What do our customers think?
passionatte author  Dec 13, 2009
Jim is opening the eyes of many people to biblical prophecy in a way that will reach the culture of our times, which is not easy. Many prophecy conferences contain mostly elderly leaders that focus on what, in their opinion, is yet to come. The bible clearly, and sometimes not so clearly, tells us what God wants us to know about the last days. I do personally believe we are in them, but don't hold me to it. My point is that Jim looks at what has been fufilled as opposed to what may or may not happen to prove the validity of the Bible. They say history is our best teacher and there are some good lessons to be learned. This man is so committed to the state of Israel that he has the date 5-14-48 tattoed on his forearm in the spot where his holocost friends wear theirs. He will make you laugh and he will make you think.

A Must Read!!  Sep 17, 2009
I don't have anything new to add to what the other reviewers commented. The author just adds a different side to the end times, one that is humorous at times. Biblically solid! I highly recommend it!

It's the End of the World as We Know It  Aug 1, 2009
A good reminder for those who already know their eschatology. A good primer for those who are not sure about eschatology.

Hard book to put down!  Jul 28, 2009
What a great read. Very eye opening, entertaining, and I think, dead on. Very well written. I look forward to reading Jim's future books.

Don't miss this one!
