Publishers Description
"The high priests of atheism really have no clothes." So says Jonas E. Alexis. He takes the atheists and skeptics on the ground they cherish most-logical consistency and experiential relevance. He believes we are living in a time when thinking people believe the unthinkable, the unreasonable, and the unimaginable. In the name of "knowledge" and "wisdom," many intellectuals, atheists, and skeptics embrace irrational ideas. In the Name of Knowledge and Wisdom challenges those ideas. He takes the atheists, skeptics, and critics of Christianity to task for believing the impossible about Christianity. Armed with simple logic and common sense, Alexis demolishes the atheist position and points the way to Christianity. This book is for anyone who has questions about the new "golden age" of atheism. Furthermore, the book also provides a strong critique of the nihilism that is quite rampant in our pop culture. Ultimately, the book shows that if God is dead, as the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche proposed in the nineteenth century, then anything is permitted. Jonas E. Alexis has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in education. He is a math teacher in Florida. His first book in this trilogy is In the Name of Education, and the third book will be Education's Dangerous Idea. It is tentatively scheduled to be released in the winter of 2009. "Alexis has written an important book." -Don DeYoung, Ph.D. in physics Chairman of the Department of Physical Science at Grace College Author of Astronomy and the Bible "In the Name of Education is not only worth reading, it is worth believing, worth heeding, and most important, worth acting upon." -Dr. David A. Noebel, best-sellingauthor of Understanding the Times "Alexis has certainly done a block of research." -Paul Sperry, author of Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington "In the Name of Education is excellent and rich with solidly documented information. For me, any book of social criticism needs to be fully attributed so that I can validate both the quote and the author's interpretation. This book accomplishes that mission. It is clearly written." -Judith A. Reisman, Ph.D., author of Kinsey: Crimes and Consequences: The Red Queen and the Grand Scheme "In the Name of Education documents the weird and dangerous ideas that have put generations of Americans at risk, even as it points the way back toward genuine intellectual and moral reform." -Jim Nelson Black, Ph.D., author of Freefall of the American University

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Probably doesn't go far enough  Nov 26, 2008
The basic premise of this book is that the atheist world view assumes that atheism is based on reason while Chritianity is grounded in faith. Actually, almost all atheists express the opinion that Christianity is delusional at best, hypocritical at worst. The author makes the argument that atheists are wrong in thier assumptions. But what he doesn't seem to grasp is the extent to which the reality is reversed. Christians base our world view on reason. The faith we have is grounded in reason for the vast majority of us. There is a word for faith built upon reason....wisdom. The entire bible is filled with example after example. Over and over again, the message is, follow this example of goodness and reason and have faith that the result is blessed by God to tell you the best and correct ways to do things....and the results will be blessed. And that is exactly what happens over and over and over again. By contrast, the atheist view is NOT grounded in reason. One has simply to look around (or look in a mirror) to see that life violates the mechanistic world view. According to what an atheist believes, we should not exist. The world as it is should not be possible to exist. The fact that it does and the monumental disconnect with the atheist world view this causes, seems lost on most people.

But that is not the worst part. For the atheist view is in fact grounded in faith. Or rather, their movement is one that has the characteristics of a religious cult. To an atheist, what should it matter if others believe differently? Yet, they expend the greater part of thier energy working against Christianity. To them, it is a VERY big deal that others choose to serve God. The reason for this comes out if you examine thier behavior closely. They go out of their way to promote sinful, and often heinously evil behaviors. Whenever you find a movement to release murderers from prison or to hamstring our country's efforts against terrorism, you find atheists behind it. From the sinful life of homosexuality to the brutality of babies callously thrown in the trash.....all driven by atheists. Atheists DO believe in God. They KNOW the truth of what Christians believe in. They actively oppose God, in all ways and at every opportunity. They serve satan....that is who they have faith in. Such an insane thing as THAT is most definitely not grounded in reason.
An excellent book for critics of Christianity  Nov 18, 2008
Critics of Christianity have marshaled faulty arguments and unsupported assumptions for too long. This book certainly takes atheists like Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Carl Sagan, David Mills, and even the late Bertrand Russell to task for believing the impossible. For the past three or four years, there has been a great resurgence of atheist books on the market of ideas. Alexis cuts them all to pieces and shows that the atheists, as he says, "simply have no clothes." A great read!
