Overview
Perpetua is an historical novel based on the real life and death of a young Roman noblewoman. Perpetua was martyred in the amphitheater of Carthage in 203 AD, but kept a diary of her arrest and time in prison. While many martyrs were poor or illiterate, Perpetua was neither. A new mother, a noblewoman, wealthy, highly educated... she had much to lose, and she chose to give it all away for the privilege of dying for Jesus. The novel expands her diary to include the less than three years between her conversion and her execution. As she experiences love, life, persecution and self-discovery, we are taken along on her heart journey. All the while danger is building ... the shadow of death encroaches ... betrayal and jealousy threaten to expose her faith to the Roman authorities. And by the time she is willing, even eager, to give her life, we are with her rejoicing at the chance to die, hoping for the same chance ourselves.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
WOW!  Mar 6, 2008
I have to echo the former reviews in saying that this book is truly life-changing. I found myself reading words not from Perpetua or Amy Rachel Peterson but from my King himself. This book made me fall even more in love with the lover of my soul. God used this book to bless me and draw me closer to Him. He used it to reveal more of His character and His extravagant love. Thank you Amy for being a vessel and allowing the LORD to speak through you! By the end of the book I found myself jealous of Perpetua's place in heaven worshiping our Savior and for a few sweet moments saw myself there as well. It made me long to be in Paradise with my One and Only Love, lying facedown before the Creator of the Universe. God is Good!

Perpetua: powerful spiritual truths grafted into engaging historical novel  Jan 18, 2007
Perpetua has many powerful spiritual truths grafted into an engaging story. I like to read stories. When I find one that is compelling and at the same time delivers spiritual insights, it is a treasure. In this, I compare Amy Peterson's work to those of George MacDonald--which is for me high praise! I hope to see more writing from this author in the future.

The only Novel I'll actually read!!!  Oct 7, 2005
I usually don't like Novel's. . . I like facts and devotional reading. . . but this book is amazing. For someone like me, who can't make word pictures in my mind very easily, this book was excitingly vivid and exceptionally captivating. A MUST read.

Trully Inspirational  Apr 9, 2005
This book reads incredibly well. Because of how well written and descriptive this book is, I feel almost transported to the time of Perpetua. You feel as if you were there, experiencing everything with her. This book helps me to be thankful for my everyday sufferings, yes, thankful! I wish so badly that this book could be made into an epic film so that all could experience it's truth.

Excellent! Outstanding! Highly recommended!  Feb 23, 2005
"Perpetua" is an excellent book I have ever read and it reminds us that the ultimate purpose of this life is only to love our LORD JESUS CHRIST with all our heart, mind, soul and strength above all things in this universe. It is a must read and I strongly recommend this book for everyone. If you are interested in learning what passion for GOD and HIS beauty means, read this book. I am sure that the profit margins would be equal to that of "The Passion of the CHRIST" if it is filmed. I enjoyed reading "Perpetua" written by Amy Rachel Peterson very much and I'll read it again and again during my leisure. Outstanding! Excellent! Highly recommended! Buy this book today!
