Item Description...
Overview
Aden explores the variety of faith responses to its ultimate test: death. In the face of death, whether that of a loved one or our own, our faith can either regress or recover. It regresses when it sinks back into reliance on the self. When it recovers, we emerge with a deeper understanding of God and cling more zealously to God's promises. As Aden shows, faith and doubt exist side by side; just as we are always sinners, we are always doubters on the way to becoming believers. Growth in faith means an ever-increasing ability to turn to God's Word in the midst of despair.

Preface 1.The Fundamentals Of Faith 2.The Frailty Of Faith 3.Faith In Ourselves 4.The Foolishness Of Faith 5.The Tenacity Of Faith 6.Faith And The Assurances Of God 7.The Psychological Fruits Of Faith 8.Concrete Instances Of Faith Notes

Reviews - What do our customers think?
A wonderful, conforting, helpful book!  Apr 12, 2005
"In Life and Death: The Shaping of Faith" is a well written, moving book that deals with issues of grief and loss and brings them together with ones personal search for faith during those hard times. It is an important book to read if you have experienced a loss because it brings you through the process of grief with the realization that it is only through our dark times that our faith and religion are fully tested. But the book is not limited to just those that have experienced a significant loss, it is written for all, as the book brings to life the tenuous place we all live in - somewhere between life and death - and the beauty that tested faith brings to us in the forms of comfort and healing. The book, through the process of dealing with grief, lends the reader to a deeper appreciation of life. Excellent, profound, must read!
