Item Description...
Is there really proof for the resurrection of Christ? How could a loving God send people to Hell? Why does the Bible call pre-marital sex a sin? Why is homosexuality wrong? How will God judge the people who never heard of Jesus? These are but some of the critical concerns keeping honest seekers from considering Christianity. In an interesting, down to earth style, Bob Siegel tackles the hardest, most painfully honest questions. Rather than shoving these topics under a rug, Bob shows respect for his readers by providing detailed and compelling explanations. This book will be enjoyed both by skeptics and Christians.

The Christian Socrates - Lots of strong reasoning and facts here  Oct 4, 2007
Bob Siegel seems to have a gift for addressing touchy, difficult and controversial issues with impeccable reasoning and facts. And, he does it in a way that is so clear and well argued that you wonder why you didn't see it that way in the first place.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading his book.

Enjoyable read, and food for the brain...  Sep 22, 2007
Excellent book! It's particularly helpful in addressing some of the difficult questions about Christianity, i.e., `Is there really evidence for God's existence?', `Is the God of the Bible a God of war and genocide?', or `Is Christianity chauvinistic?'. I find it frustrating that most Christian writers, pastors, etc., don't seem to offer reasonable answers to questions like these.

The author does a terrific job of dealing with these and other objections people may have with the Christian religion, or with belief in God in general. Also, he's respectful to the reader as he makes his points. He doesn't come across as arrogant or condescending, which can sometimes occur when a writer or speaker is making an argument for a certain belief system or philosophy.

Further, he doesn't insult the reader's intelligence by handling complex questions with quick, overly simplistic answers. He's willing to admit something may be his own opinion, and he shows courtesy and respect to those on the other side of a given issue. I really appreciate that type of honesty.

Essentially, he does a good job of untangling the central message of Christianity (the saving gospel of Jesus Christ) from certain 'gray' areas that Christians can disagree on. This book is certainly worth checking out!

Some non-pat answers to some good questions!  Sep 17, 2007
"I'd like to believe in Jesus, But.." is clearly written by a man who has spent a lot of time discussing and debating religion and Christianity with the university crowd. The questions asked and answered in Mr. Siegel's book are those that are asked by real people with genuine concerns about the various claims on truth that Christianity makes. Mr. Siegel not only answers the questions posed, but he often goes on to address the unstated question that is really being asked by the seeker.

Mr. Siegel does an excellent job of putting Christian principles and faith on a sound intellectual footing without getting too esoteric.

If you are a person who really has some intellectual objections to Christianity and are willing to consider some good challenging answers -- this is the book for you.

If you are a Christian who finds yourself frustrated by some of the more intellectual objections to Christianity, this book can give you a fresh perspective in how to address many of the issues brought up in the course of a discussion on Christianity and the person of Jesus.

Buy several and share them with others!  Aug 20, 2007
This book gets to the heart of each one who questions God, the Bible, and important issues. It feels as though you are sitting down with an apologist and asking him questions...or having your skeptical friends do the same. I highly recommend giving it to all who have these questions. It's obvious that the author has had much experience talking to those on University campuses, and he lovingly, respectfully and clearly explains answers in a way we all wish we could! You will enjoy the simple, conversational style, and also the way the author simplifies truth. A wonderful book!
