Item Description...
Overview
With over thirty years of clinical psychiatric experience with children and their parents, Dr. Campbell knows how profoundly a parent can influence a child. By anticipating the needs of a child rather than reacting to his or her behaviors, parents develop a relational rather than adversarial family structure. Mothers and fathers will find tools aimed to help them build a healthy relationship with their child that meets all four basic emotional needs: to be nurtured in unconditional love, to be lovingly disciplined, to be trained in anger management, and to be protected from harmful influences. It is after these basic needs are met that a child will be able to understand and respond to spiritual matters.
Combining practical advice with anecdotal examples, Campbell offers a purposeful, life-long approach to building happy, healthy, spiritual children.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Using "How to Really Parent Your Child"  Sep 28, 2009
My wife and I found Ross Campbell's "How to Really Love Your Child" very helpful when we were raising our three daughters, who are now in their 20s & 30s. This book has already been a good refresher course for me as a grandfather, or rather "grampy" as my granddaughter calls me. I plan on using this book to do a pilot series of four parenting talks, which will address info in the first four chapters. This text provides very useful and practical parenting guidance. Ross Campbell is not apologetic about addressing the topic from a Christian perspective; but I do not think he is too heavy handed. I think readers of all faiths will find lots of useful parenting suggestions.

an updated version of "how to really love your child"  Apr 2, 2009
This updated version is just as good as the original, with the same message, but it includes information on being a modern parent with all of the new trappings we deal with today. His last book was published in the 70's I think - and although I found it extremely helpful, this new version is great too.

Practical help for stressed parents  Mar 19, 2009
I checked this book out from the library and after reading a little bit, I realized I needed a copy of my very own. It helped me shift my focus from reacting to my child/pre-teen to really looking at what it is they need from me. It gave me ideas and insights that are very real-life, not phrased for someone with a Masters in Education or a Psychologist. This is a great book for parents who are wanting to be the best they can be.
