Good Advice  Feb 19, 2008
How Did I Get So Busy?: The 28-day Plan to Free Your Time, Reclaim Your Schedule, and Reconnect with What Matters Most

I loved this book. It was easy to read and easy to apply. I went thru the 28 days and have noticed significant changes in my life already.

The voice Valorie uses in writting is not intimidating or undermining. Reading it reminded me of alot of the advice my best friend gives me only with an unbiased perspective. It also offers productive ways to put it into practice that I never thought of before. It helps cut down on the scare factor of stating an overwhelming schedule and life rehaul and breaks it down into digestable tasks and attainable goals.

I've already recommended (required) my family read it so we're all on the same page and it has greatly helped with the harmony in our house.
A Highly Effective Resource for Life Management  Feb 14, 2008
I initially picked up Valorie Burton's How Did I Get So Busy? with the expectation of finding a great time management solution, but I ended up receiving so much more. If you, like me, need insights that go beyond "quick fix" tactics, and are seeking powerful solutions to help you get and keep a handle on life's numerous demands, do yourself a big favor and get this book.

It's about so much more than managing your time; it's about getting your life back. Best of all, this fun, easy-to-read, and highly effective book is like getting 28 full days of one-one-one coaching in a single resource. I highly recommended it.

Excellent Advice  Feb 13, 2008
If you think you're too busy, raise your hand. I think most of us have that problem. Valorie Burton admits it's not always easy for her either. Most of the time it's like we're on a treadmill and we can't get off. The problem is we all have responsibilities we can't just walk away from. But in this book Valorie Burton has some very practical advice on how to take control of our lives, how to make clear choices, how to slow down. She shows the reader when to manage and when to delegate, and most important of all, when to let go. One thing she pointed out made me stop and think. Jesus was never in a rush. He always had time to stop and help someone, time to talk, time to teach, but he also made time to rest. Time to steal away and talk to God. A clear example for us all. After all, even God rested on the seventh day.
Chockful of advice and plain practical help. Recommended
A Format Change Would Help Lots  Jan 31, 2008
Relatively, I'm pretty busy myself. So when I saw Valorie Burton's book on the bookstore shelf, I told myself I just had to get a copy! And I did, after my friend asked me what I wanted for my birthday.

When I opened the first few pages, my first thought was... "Would a really busy person have the time to go through all this?"

Don't get me wrong. I found a lot to relate to even in just the first few pages. The idea of not wanting to be left behind is oh, so true! But I think the book would really help a lot of busy people if the format was restructured.

I suggest that the very first page contain the summary of the 28-day plan, outlined in very digestible snippets. A busy person would want to know, in one glance, what the next 28 days would be like.

Then, instead of having the tips and to-dos at the end of each chapter, better to place them at the beginning. That way, a really busy person would have something to chew on--as early as the first page of a chapter.

After the to-do, Burton can follow with her insightful and inspiring thoughts, for those who have the extra time.
