Reviews - What do our customers think?
An Inside Story  Sep 11, 2005
I'm not usually a mystery reader, but HELLBENT had me hooked from page one to the very end. I happen to be a nun, so I know the territory of many of the scenes. It was authentic.

Callahan handles the characters with much compassion. I found myself thinking about them between readings. It was a fast read. The real-life situations still haunt me.
Engaging novel  Sep 6, 2005
This novel is truly a "page-turner"!. The inner-city setting provides a vivid backdrop for the poignant struggles of the characters. The author invites readers to explore the inner worlds of ordinary people experiencing the intense, but all-too-common stresses of violence, poverty, depression and infidelity. Each character must choose how to respond and then live with the consequences of his/her own and others' actions. It helps us all to realize how much our choices ripple out to touch other lives.
Murdered Nun as Metaphor  Sep 4, 2005
This murder mystery surprised me with its level of suspense. It was a guessing game up to the end. The setting of a Catholic school in the inner city was realistic. The dialogue was engaging, at times thought-provoking and at other times quite humorous, especially those between the Irish mothers. The murdered nun became the greatest witness to living and the living became the greatest witness to overcoming hardship. This is an entertaining novel while giving you something to "chew on".
