DeYoung - Freedom and Boundaries  Apr 21, 2008
Rev. DeYoung is a young pastor of a vibrant Reformed church in Michigan and is out of step with the current trends in his denomination; he is a complimentarian. DeYoung set out to write a brief readable book on this issue and he admirably accomplished his goal; chapters are concise and readable and cover the high points of the conflict with the relevant scriptures. DeYoung loves the Bible and the church and has a good grasp on church history (his own and other denominations). With care for biblical interpretive rules and sensitivity towards those who disagree, he presents the biblical basis for traditional male-leadership (viz. teaching authority) in the church. At the end of the book he argues that compromise on this issue will lead to further damaging compromises on biblical interpretation, and this argument is well supported by recent church history. Highly recommended.

Freedom and Boundaries  Jun 5, 2006
This is an exceptional book on a sensitive topic: the role of women in the church. Author Kevin DeYoung presents a carefully reasoned biblical case (complementarian) with clarity and grace. The exegesis of Scripture is rock solid and the applications are practical. The book is concise and free of the kind of theological jargon that would make it accessible only to academicians. Pastors and members will both profit greatly. I wish I had written it. I will definitely distribute it.
