Reviews - What do our customers think?
forgivin' ain't forgettin'  Feb 20, 2007
I really enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. The author Mata Elliot has written a book that deals with an issue that is very difficult for most of us and that is forgiveness and forgetting once we think we have come forward enough to move on. The scripture references where enlightening without being too preachy, it's enough to make you want to go and read the rest for yourself. Also,I am a hopeless romantic so I loved the story between Cassidy and Trevor. I think this book could also be used as a reference to be pulled out on as need basis. I can honestly say that I would recommend this book to anyone looking to read a true love story that is pure and about how forgivness is important for your own peace of mind.
Time to Heal  Nov 9, 2006
In Forgivin' Ain't Forgettin', Cassidy Beckett has had two abusive relationships that have left her an unforgiving woman with a well-kept secret. She privately and inwardly grieves over this secret and presents the perfect façade to the world, while she remains traumatized by the painful memories of her past. She continues to bury herself in the church ministry, where she soon meets Trevor Monroe. Trevor and Cassidy initially have a love-hate relationship. But with the passing of Cassidy's beloved Aunt Odessa, their bond grows stronger. As a widower, Trevor also is burdened by painful memories of his past and his loving wife. Soon, Cassidy's past rises up--causing her a great deal of internal pain and suffering! Trying times are ahead for the couple and only prayer and spiritual counseling seems to help, along with only the wisdom that God can provide. They soon find healing in the Word, forgetting, forgiveness--and each other. Mata Elliott has written a debut contemporary book gently intertwined with the Christian lifestyle.
Leave The Past Behind  Nov 7, 2006
Cassidy is a young strong minded teacher who has had her share of heartache. On the outside she seems to have it all together, she's a saved Christian as well as a good friend. But, the pain of the past continues to torment her.

Trevor is a young father with two young girls that he's raising since the death of his wife, Brenda, who was the delight of his life. Trevor is a business owner, as well as a saved Christian.

Cassidy and Trevor attend the same church and shockingly, their paths have never crossed that is until now. Odessa Vale, Cassidy's aunt took Trevor and his daughters in after a fire destroyed their home.

However, Cassidy does not enjoy sharing her house with this fine, strong man. She is constantly on Trevor's back about things he did or didn't do. She does like his girls and they also like her.

Cassidy notices she has feelings for Trevor a fact that she didn't want to face. Trevor on the other hand knew that Cassidy was indeed a woman that he could see himself spending the remainder of his life with. The church was filled with single sisters who were plotting on ways to get Trevor to the altar. Unfortunately for them, he only has eyes for Cassidy.

Both, Cassidy and Trevor have a ton of baggage that there holding on to. The issues that there hiding seem to place a damper on their relationship. Will they be able to free themselves from past ordeals in order to continue with their present?

Forgivin' Ain't Forgettin' was a good book. I enjoyed how it would tell you about something that was happening without drenching you in too many details. I am left wondering will there be a sequel? I feel as if the author left some things opened.

Love, Suspense and Spiritual Teachings all in ONE Book?  Oct 29, 2006
Sometimes forgiving is easier said than done.
Betrayal from long ago has left Cassidy Beckett a broken and unforgiving woman. For years, her solution has been to immerse herself in being a schoolteacher, running the reading program at her church, and burying her feelings behind her faith.
She's definitely not interested in Trevor Monroe, her community's hotly pursued Mighty Man of God-and not happy that this widower and single father has come to live with her and her aunt...or that he has a knack for getting through her defenses. But a bond between them is starting to grow, and soon Cassidy's past rises up, demanding to be dealt with. Now only the kind of deliverance and wisdom that God provides can help them find healing in His Word-and each other.

Newcomer Matta Elliot has written an outstanding debut novel! Forgivin' Ain't Forgettin is full of characters that have experienced great pain and tremendous healing, forgiveness and love. Matta Elliot has done a masterful job of combining love, suspense and spiritual teachings in one book.
Read this book and be prepared to be moved!

A very good read  Oct 16, 2006
I enjoyed reading this book from the beginning to the end. Although, I thought it started off a little slow. I also wish that the ending would have been different. It would have been good to know if Cassidy ever had another baby but maybe the author is planning on a part two.
