Item Description...
Michael Tait's first release outside of dc Talk is not really a solo effort. In fact, Tait has invested his many talents with three kindred spirits (guitarist Pete Stewart, drummer Chad Chapin, and brother Lonnie on bass) to form, oddly enough, a band called Tait. And Empty is not just about Michael Tait simply flexing his musical muscle outside of dc Talk. It's a melting pot of ideas that produces enough smoke and fire to cook up one winner after another. From the no-holds-barred opening rocker, "Alibi," to the final track, an emotionally wrenching "Unglued," Tait not only sounds like a band, but has the soul and feel of one as well. The sound of a real band comes through in the alluring, hook-laden "All You Got," the riveting "Talk About Jesus," and the anti-racist, anthemic "American Tragedy." There's tightness in the sonic bond here that can't be had through any allegiance with studio musicians. No, Tait is a band, and Empty is anything but. --Michael Lyttle

A Solid Collection  Apr 23, 2006
This album by Tait has several very good songs. The songs have solid Christian lyrics that are arranged in some very catchy tunes.

'Empty' is the best of the solo projects by the former DC Talkers that I have heard. As always, Michael Tait has a superb voice. In this album it is combined with some great instrumental work, some of which have a rather rocking sound.

This is a good CD that I would recommend.
Not Empty On Talent!  Feb 19, 2006
This cd is awesome from start to finish! Michael has the type of voice that I believe could sing absolutely anything and everything and this cd proves it. There is real talent on this disc: Chad Chapin- killer drummer, Lonnie Chapin-solid bass, and Pete Stewart's guitar work is always enjoyable. This is a heartfelt and socially-conscious album. Check out "American Tragedy", "Spy", and "Talk About Jesus". The song "Unglued". written after the death of Michael's father, is one of the most emotional, painful, and beautiful songs I've ever heard. I've yet to be disappointed with any of the "dc" boys' solo stuff. I'm betting this disc won't leave you "Empty".
Lives up to Tait's challenge.  Jan 1, 2006
I heard Michael Tait say once in an interview that Christian artists can't settle for making music "as good as" secular music, but that Christian artists should be always trying to make music *better* than secular artists. I had never really thought about it much before, but I agree with him. This cd is a very good try to meet that challenge. If the cd was more consistent I would give it a "five" in fact.

These guys can rock your socks off-plus they have something worthwhile to say, and that always helps. Here's a rundown:

"Alibi"- good tune, Tait's vocal are great
"Loss for Words"-- ditto
"All You Got" and "Spy"--good rock songs
Tracks 7,8,9 are the heart of the cd for me
"Looking for You"
"American Tragedy"-I love this song about the stupidity of
racism set to a rocking song.
"Talk About Jesus"--my favorite on the cd, and one of my
favorites anytime or place. It speaks of
the great damage incurred by Christian

Great cd. A couple of the tracks just didn't "toot my horn" but, then again, some of the others sat on it.

Congratulations Michael and friends. I look forward to seeing you again in concert someday soon.
Good offering but not what I expected!  Dec 5, 2004
Being a long time Christian music listener, it wasn't until Jesus Freak (D.C. Talk album) that I could find DCT's music interesting. The one thing that drew me in was Tait's voice and his resembelence of Seal (for those of you who are not familliar with Seal, some of hits include: KISS FROM A ROSE, THIS COULD BE HEAVEN and CRAZY). I know Tait is his own sound and I can appreciate that. In fact, I think he has an awesome voice but his music I can't relate with. It seems to lack sincerity or maybe passion. I can't quite put into words what I feel that it is missing. But hey, this is my own personal view and I am sure for others, this album speaks directly to them and that is what makes music what it is. Peace to whomever I may have offended.
I like it!   Aug 13, 2004
This album has one very important thing going for it. It's very very catchy. The first time through these songs I loved them and as time has passed I still do, for me that's a very good sign, usually if I like something right away it ends up becoming very annoying but this was not the case. A great first solo outing for 1/3 rd of dc talk, great soaring voice, and spiritual content, I like it!
