Item Description...
London Bible College has been at the centre of theological education in Britain for over sixty years. Through its staff and former students it has had a significant influence on post-war evangelical life and has in turn been shaped by evangelical currents. This book is the story of LBC in the context of evangelical developments, since the beginning of the college in the 1940s. As you turn the pages of this fascinating book you will discover a rigorous and challenging analysis of post-war evangelicalism in Britain - and indeed the world, through the lens of a single institution, London Bible College. LBC was founded in the middle of World War II to meet the need for an interdenominational, evangelical college with high academic standards to counter the rising tide of liberal scholarship. Ian Randall charts LBC's sometimes difficult progress through the changing tides of evangelical opinion and support to its current position as a touchstone for the finest in distinctly evangelical scholarship. Educating Evangelicalism is an extremely readable and well-researched study which places people, events and movements of evangelicalism in Britain into a holistic context. It will appeal to any who wants to gain a better sense of where evangelicals have been - and where they are going - and is a marvellous read for those whose own lives have been personally influenced by LBC.
