Reviews - What do our customers think?
A most insightful book  Apr 27, 2008
I was given this book to review for post-grad studies for ministry. I REALLY enjoyed it! Here are a few excerpts from my papers:

'...authentic ministry reflects `the communal life of the Trinity' (Buxton 2001, p.21) to the world. It is God-oriented, sensitively contextual in approach, kenotic, diaconal, joyful and healthy. It stems from divine revelation, and reflects Christ's ministry to the world. It is ever flexible and open to the Spirit, both in its structure and its delivery of the gospel, and imaginatively and creatively uses appropriate means to bring about God's will.'

'...the author rightly states that the church must be defined in terms of its relationship to God, in that it must find its inception and signification in the perichoretic life of God; participation of which it is invited to inhere. Said inherence or state of `being' is to take precedence over God's call for us to share in His ministry in and for the world.'

'The author is to be commended for taking this intensely abstruse subject and producing a work that is accessible and clearly discernable to both scholar and layperson alike.'

'Hats off to Buxton for this significant contribution to practical theology, that is incredibly pertinent and exceptionally helpful.'

It's about time ministry students were given books like this to read!
