Why do we exist? Why must God's people suffer? Why has the Holy Spirit led me into this wilderness? These questions plague the minds, from time to time of all who walk closely with God. We proceed with our daily lives wearing a smile while wars rage within our members and at times it is doubtful that we will experience success at all. While we are surrounded with countless testimonies from men and women who've suffered and travailed in God's fire of refinement and emerged victorious; we can't help but yet feel cut off and alone. How is it that the great cloud of witnesses has failed to bring me comfort? This feeling of isolation and despair is in fact quite common, for we come against an enemy quite adept in manipulation emotions. The process in which you are being made has been used for centuries to forge ordinary men into galvanized instruments of holy warfare. Crucified Under Protest is a commentary depicting the events and persons surrounding our Lord during His final hours on Earth. Most of them were unprepared for the magnitude of God's perfect plan and therefore offer us an invaluable character study from a uniquely spiritual perspective. The Lord Jesus himself of course is the main theme in this book. I believe that if it's possible to learn anything from suffering, we will best learn from Him who suffered most.
It is the will of God that all of creation arrives at its fruition. What he finished at the beginning was to continue to develop and reproduce all of its appointed time. However the fall of man constituted a regression that necessitated intervention on his part. In order to fulfill his divinely appointed purpose, man must undergo a new creative procedure. This will be painful at times, but don't be discouraged; it is expedient for all of us to be crucified with Christ. "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." (I Pet. 4:12-13). With this in mind, it is important that we understand that, while we are being "made," we will experience certain misgivings; the inner voice of the flesh crying out against the will of the Spirit of God. Just as fiery trials are common among God's saints, so are these annoying inner complaints. Even the Lord Jesus struggled with some unrest (Mat. 26:37-38). This, of course, is a truth seldom acknowledged. Yet, the fact remains that our High Priest was touched with these infirmities as well. But before we can examine our common "protest," I thought it appropriate to begin with a discussion on the subject of worship. Only true worshippers will be able to survive the onslaught of the adversary's minions. For those who do not appreciate the value of God himself will yield to the desires of the carnal mind. If we expect to truly advance in the perfect will of God we must remain disciplined and understand that the best way to initiate andpreserve a spirit of obedience is via a lifestyle characterized by continuous worship. To worship means to render honor and veneration to a deity; religious reverence and homage. It comes from the old English word "weorthscipe" which was used to express reverence and devotion. The Hebrew word for worship is "shaha" and means to bow down oneself before another. The Greek language offers two words, which are: proskuneo, properly to kiss the hand (toward) one; and a more commonly used word "sebomai," which means to revere.
