Item Description...
Grisly crimes are routine for FBI agents Brady Moore and Alicia Wagner. But when ancient prophecies link the victims of the so-called Pelletier killings, the murderer's wrath turns toward them, while evidence points to the charismatic Italian ambassador to Israel. "Not for the faint of heart!" hails Frank Peretti of this global thriller. 496 pages, softcover from WestBow.

Publishers Description

The ancients saw Death as a blazing figure on horseback, swift and merciless. Those facing the black chasm often mistook their pounding hearts for the beating of hooves.

Now, two FBI agents pursuing a killer from a centuries-old cult realize they have become his prey.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Quite a gripping tale  Nov 8, 2007
There is no shortage of action and suspense in this book. Perhaps the themes - Christianity and organized religions and their targeting by the, well Vikings of sorts - was a bit lofty. The basis of the novel is that a female FBI agent finds herself in the middle of an investigation where a serial killer is targeting people over a huge geographic area that are simply not related. Some of the minutia is a bit unnecessary, but the book reads quick and does not come off as preachy even with the religious themes. Overall, a fun book that I don't regret reading.
Very imaginative  Oct 9, 2007
This was quite a bit more graphic in its depiction of bloody violence than I am accumstomed to. However, the story is not dark or mean-spirited. It is very creative; kind of an X-Files meets the Da Vinci Code, without any harsh language or lurid sexuality. I've always been a sucker for secret passageways, and this book overflows with them. I'm glad I invested the time in its reading.
Not bad at all  Apr 15, 2007
For a book i only bought because i was attracted to the was pretty good. I'm not usually one to go for crime dramas/thrillers, but Liparulo was amazing at making so many different stories interconnect into a delicious outcome. Not to mention the no doubt strenuous research done. Half way through you can almost feel how hard he must have worked for his novel.
Decent Debut  Mar 25, 2007
I won't give this novel a five star rating because it wasn't that groudbreaking. But, it was a very well written novel, with characters that were well-developed. Olaf was probably the most interesting to me. For any christian looking for a good read this is definitely it! I also only rated it a four star because the author left one loose end. A character who seemed to play a major/minor part, seems to get left out at the end. Overall the story moves pretty fast once it gets started. There are a few twists and turns in the end that I didn't exactly see coming. This novel is a great weekend read for anyone looking for a clean thriller!
Definitely lives up to it's "thriller" status.  Mar 19, 2007
What a ride! I bought this book on whim, on the basis of the back cover description (usually I need to check reviews on this site first). I finished it in about three days. Very suspenseful and detailed, with great protagonists (it was kinda fun thinking of them as Mulder and Scully, but really they're not like M&S at all). Some scenes are so chilling I won't be able to forget them for a while, especially because they were written so well. But detailed also means that the gory scenes are not glossed over. Things definitely get worse for our dear Brody and Alicia, before they get any better.

I myself didn't notice any pacing problems or rushed endings. Some of the scenes in the last 1/4 of the book were the most memorable. Anyway, this was just a quick review to say I really enjoyed this book. It merits a good review because it's a thriller out of so many, and stands out above and beyond the others. Now I have to read Liparulo's next book!
