Reviews - What do our customers think?
Another Great Book  Nov 5, 2007
I really love Tracie Peterson's books, and this was no exception. I can't wait to read the next one. A little law and mystery was a great combination with her storytelling skills. I am going to look for some James Scott Bell books now, too, since I have never read any of his.
I am going to be buying this series for my grandmother, who is a Mary Higgins Clark fan. I think she will really enjoy them, and I can get her hooked on Peterson, too, like I am.
I love this woman  Mar 31, 2006
Rarely will a book keep me up past sensible hours, but both City of Angels and it's sequel Angels Flight have done just that.

This book introduces and features Kit Shannon and a desperate fights against injustice. Now, usually, I'm inclined to favor the prosecution, but this book just makes you want to cheer for the poor and oppressed.

I read alot and I can get picky, but this book is just the ticket for a few blissful hours. Warning: read with caution, I know I've lost many a studying hr to this book.

Delightly Surprised   Mar 14, 2005
I picked up this book at the library with no expectations. I was looking for a quick read and intended on leaving it at that. This book wrapped me into the characters much to my delight. I caught myself staying up late and waking up early just to find out what had happened next to this wonderful characters.
Here's a quick plot summary for you: Kit Shannon is a young woman in her twenties from New York who moves to Los Angeles: the City of Angels to live with her aunt. Kit is an unusual character who has one pursuit in life; she wishes to become a lawyer. After quite a rough childhood, she has her college degree and has only to find a lawyer who will support her so she can pass the bar exam and become a legal counselor. The challenge is that Kit is living in the early 20th century in a world vastly dominated by men.
This is a great book that will have you laughing with the characters and cheering amongst your cries of dismay. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who believes in fighting for their dreams.
Fallen Angel  Apr 7, 2004
Usually Bethany House books are gentle, mildly inspirational novels. Alas, Ms. Peterson and Mr. Bell decide to ruin a nice little costume murder mystery, on the lines of the Goldy Bear series, by injecting a great deal of illogical religious bigotry that actually interferes with the story. The flashbacks to evil nuns and similar nonsense are sheer bad writing.

By the way, it is impossible to have a character whose real name is Kathleen Shannon. She might as well be called Kathleen Mississippi! Shannon is the name of a river, and related to a Celtic deity. It has never been a family name, though it has sometimes been taken as an alias. Nor can her father be Harry T. Shannon! Henry and its diminuative Harry are not and never have been popular in Ireland, due to the actions of Henry VII of England against the Irish.

Excellent Book!  Dec 31, 2002
I really enjoyed this book -- it had suspense, humor, love, and revenge in it and I couldn't put it down. I am looking forward to reading both the sequels to it as soon as possible!
