Overview
Christianity's centre of gravity has shifted in the modern world from the Northern continents to the South, with Africa playing a significant role in the resurgence of the faith. In this, the first book to examine this global transformation from an African perspective, Kwame Bediako surveys the new role of African Christianity.

Publishers Description
The aim of this book is to teach you to understand and speak Welsh as it is spoken today. In order to achieve this, the language introduced is centred on a wide range of realistic, everyday situations. The course covers the four basic skills - listening and speaking, reading and writing, with recorded material to accompany your work and provide you with the essential opportunity to listen to native speakers and speak it yourself. Key structures and vocabulary are introduced in 21 thematic units preceded by an alphabet and pronunciation guide, a mutation chart for quick reference and a map of Wales.

Clearing up comments from the "reader" below  Nov 27, 2006
Must clear up and correct the comments made by the "reader" (author,I wonder?) below.

Africa did obtain enlightenment on Christianity relatively early after its conception ( Christ's death, if you wish to be technical). But this was due to the fact that ( Non - African) missionaries spread the word thru the corridors of the Roman Empire's conquered lands.

The first missionaries were, of course, Jewish. Soon after followed the Europeans. Christanity in Africa did not take off until the Western Europeans started a robust program to convert the pagan population of black Africa. And, that is the way it remains EVEN TO THIS DAY! That is why it astounds me when someone makes obvious , and probably malicious, statements as "reader" did below. Instead of recognizing, and THANKING, Western Europeans for caring enough to bring the Gospel to them, they try to hijack credit , and then issue devilish insults to boot!

I suggest that the person who posted the comments below ( "reader") please re-read your history books and learn the truth of Western Europe's gift of bringing the Gospel to sub-Saharan Africa. Then apologize for your malicious and ill-conceived statements below - it's the right (Christian!)
thing to do!

Thanks for reading, and God Bless!

AFRICA: THE SALVATION OF CHRISTIANITY  Jan 24, 1997
Bediako's new book is the best to date on African theology. The author looks at the history of theological development in Africa. Many will be surprised to learn that Africans began forming their own theological evaluations of the new religion very soon after its acceptance: African theology is not a recent phenomenon. Bediako demolishes the ethno-centric arguments of both mission apologists and antagonists by conclusively demonstrating that the African appropriation of Christian faith as an African religion overrides all claims to an European-centered Christianity. Not only is Christianity an African religion, but its appropriation by Africans may be its revitalization. Christianity was distorted by the way it entered Europe, i.e., forced conversions and violence, but in Africa the true primalness of the Christian faith resurfaces. The only weakness of the book is that its scholarly nature will prevent many from searching its depths
