Don't Let the Cover Fool You . . .  Mar 19, 2010
Between two richter-scale rocking sessions at the RAMP, a teenager walks through the RAMP bookstore in a daze, trying to digest all the life-altering, paradigm-shaking words the Father has just given him. He passes by the shelf with all the Karen Wheaton cds. With its gentle, pastel hues and the penetrating, ethereal face of Karen Wheaton on the cover, this cd appears to the student as just another churchy album for ladies (or girls at least). The teenager passes by and decides to get another bottle of Dasani.

That was a mistake.

From the getgo, this collection belies its linen-and-lace facade. Barely half way through the second track, a listener realizes this cd captures the beating, pounding heart of the RAMP and the Father in a very similar way to The Summoning. This is an album of war, not passivity.

"His Throne Will Last Forever" is a rousing, electric guitar-heavy praise of the King, Jesus. "Lion of Judah," the next song, is a driving, desperate proclaimation over this generation, a "nameless, faceless, placeless tribe." "Between Porch and Altar" continues the aggressive theme of the album, carried by warlike drumbeats while speaking of this generation's place between porch and altar as weeping ministers before God who sound the alarm to a sleeping world. "Jehoshaphat's Song," an Eddie James violin- and lyrically- driven ballad, further brings home the imperial, victorious theme of the disc, speaking of the Lord's goodness as our battle cry.

"Believe," the fifth track, marks a slight change of direction in the cd, encouraging struggling believers in the promise of the Father with a gospel-feel, complete with the B3 and chorus. The album finds its most personal, intimate moment in "When I Find Him," a song about the bride in Song of Solomon looking for her beloved, echoing on the piano the yearning of the church for her beloved, Jesus Christ. "My Romance" continues in the same vein, a catchy, spirited track about joining with creation in finding ourselves solely in a good Father. "Revelation Song" reaches a new place in reverence with a profound recounting of Jesus' holiness, not as a bleeding man on the cross, but as He is now, the shining King of all Glory, whose Government is never ceasing to increase. "Be Praised" contines where "Revelation Song" left off, singing of Jesus' worth because of His death on the cross, echoing in tones of less splendor and more quiet reverence. "The Heavens are Open" closes the album in bright, hopeful tones, reflecting again on the glory of Jesus as John saw Him in the book of Revelation.
Awesome!!  Jul 17, 2009
This album is a bit different than Karen's other albums in that the music is focused more towards the worship style of young adults. Her other albums are traditional gospel albums with pop/country influences, but this album is more worship/rock. This album is great for worshipping and really getting into the music. I have several of Karen's other albums as well, and every CD she produced is excellent and I would definitely recommend her music.
Anointed!  Nov 22, 2008
This is one extremely anointed album! Karen Wheaton has a passion for this generation and you can hear it through every song. From a war-like battle cry, to an intimate love song about a journey to find Jesus. All around, this is an awesome CD. I recommend it to any and all!
