Overview
"A Popular Systematic Guide to Understanding Biblical Truth"

Theology is for everyone.
Everyone is a theologian of sorts. Theology simply means thinking about God and expressing those thoughts in some way. But sloppy theology is a problem. As Christians, our thoughts about God need to coincide with what He¿s said about Himself in the Bible. With his clear understanding of the Scriptures and unpretentious writing style, Charles Ryrie has written Basic Theology for every student of God¿s Word, from the devotional student to the seminary student.
Ryrie¿s name has become synonymous with dispensational theology and his texts on the subject invaluable to the Bible scholar. Now Ryrie¿s Basic Theology is available to you from Moody Press, the company that brings you the Ryrie Study Bible.

Featuring charts, definitions, and Scripture and subject indices, Basic Theology will give you a clear and comprehensive picture of Ryrie¿s approach to systematic theology. Its 94 chapters are arranged in outline style for easy reference. Considerable emphasis is given to explaining the dispensational view of the end times.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
A Good Theological Book To Start With  Nov 18, 2006
Maybe I am just biased because I have 3 Ryrie Study Bibles and he lectured at the Bible college I attended but I do believe Dr. Charles Ryrie did a very good job on this book.

This book is easy to read, easy to understand, concise, and covers a wide selection of topics as well as it touches every point of Systematic Theology.

For the beginner theologian, I would say Charles Ryrie does a great job explaining some of the different and sometimes difficult aspects of Christian Theology others may be questioning. It doesn't go extremely indepth but enough for you to help others understand their questions.

If you are looking for a more indepth explanation of theology do what other reviewers have suggested and that is to purchase the 4 volume set of Dr. Geisler's Systematic Theology.

If you have had no training in Systematic Theology this book would be a good start for you.

If you want to read a theology book that is easy to read, not boring, not too difficult, and gets to the point, then this book is the one for you to start with.

This book is a great tool to own, to use for your more indepth Bible Studies, and you won't be disappointed. And I recommend it for those who are beginner theologians.

Excellent Resource  Nov 11, 2006
I purchased this book while at Bob Jones University. It covers a wide selection of topics that are used all the time. I have continualy come to this for explaining different aspects of Christian Theology to others. This book covers topics such as: The Bible being the Word of God, Angels, Satan, Demons, Sin, Jesus, Salvation, The Holy Spirit and much more. It goes into depth on many interesting subjects that both believer and non-believers have alike such as "problematic passages".
This book is a library itself, containing many references of scripture to back it's content up. This is a great tool to own.

a great way to look at theology  Nov 10, 2006
Ryrie did a very good job on this book. It hits all the main points of Systematic Theology. It doesnt go extremely indept though, but since I have had no training in Systematic Theology it has been a good start for me.

Excellent review of theology...concise & relevant...  Sep 7, 2006
Excellent corollary text written in an easy to understand, concise, but expansive style. Another must-have for serious students of the good Word. Short chapters allow for easy self-study.

Highly recommended for beginner theologians.

accessible Theology  Jun 18, 2006
This book was the primary text I usedwhile in Bible College. Unlike many theolgy books it is an easy read broken down into small "chewable" portions. IT is the kind of theology book that ANY layman could pick up and go with, regardless of educational level. I high recommend this to anyone desiring a basic undersanding of the essentials, and doctriens of the christian faith.

This is by no means a thorough handeling of any theological concept. For far greater deopth in your theological studies I would highly suggest Dr. Norman Geisler's systematic theology. IT provides the wonderful information found in this volume by Ryrie, but it also takes things to another level. Giving a historical background for the development of various doctrines, as well as giving a defense of why we believe each theological concept.

For someone just starting out, or looking for a refresher pick this book up. For someone seeking an indepth theology, grab all 4 volumes of Geisler's theology.
