Eminently qualified to write this groundbreaking book, Philip King is known as both an archaeological and biblical authority. Reviews - What do our customers think?
"the archaeological factor...the great untapped resource."-King's "Introduction"  Nov 20, 2007
'And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.' Isaiah 61:4

Surely, Isaiah's prophecy had influenced Christians and Jews alike in excavating ancient biblical cities throughout the centuries, particularly the last two.

Archaeological evidence sheds light on prophetical utterances and biblical narratives alike. 'Thy graven images also will I cut off...' Micah 5:13 Archaeology reveals the abundance and articles of which the prophet speaks.

If I ever lead a bible study on these particular prophets, I would include this work with other commentaries in my reading and preparation. The evidence reveals how G-d was ever present, omniscient and ever watching. G-d is truly in the details. His words are timeless and prophetic and particular.

Highly recommended for biblical study. A must to include therein.

Great combination of Bible and Archaeology  Sep 8, 1999
This little volume is quite a helpful survey of the findings of archaeology which relate to these eight century prophets of Israel. King combines his understanding of archaeology with a sensitivity to the biblical narrative to provide the reader with helpful background information for understanding these books. In general, the reader will learn a great deal of Old Testament times from reading this book. Just a little out of date now but a book worth reading.
