Finally Here!  Dec 1, 2009
I've had the Reader's Greek New Testament by Zondervan for years. I have read it through now 5 times. It has really helped me to understand Greek NT. Don't spend all those hours of study and never read the text...a serious mistake. You will learn more about the sentence structure of Greek reading the text than you ever will by keeping your nose in a grammar.
Now (Praise God) they have released the same format in Hebrew (The Old Testament). Now I know I will finally learn the Hebrew language as comeplely as I have the Greek. This book is so well done at such a low price that anyone can afford it. You will never learn these languages well without reading the Scriptures in their original languages over and over again. I just want to thank Zondervan and all the people who did the grunge work to get these books in print. They have made a real difference in my studies and I know they will be greatly appreciated by Greek and Hebrew students for many years to come.
Really appreciate the concept  Nov 2, 2009
I think the authors did a great job and give a tremendous aid to those of us who really want to be able to read the Hebrew Bible fluently. As to criticisms about word meanings, I don't expect this book to give detailed word studies as I read along. The goal of this book is to learn how to read faster. Technical corrections can be made as I study a given text in more detail and as my understanding of Hebrew grammar grows. I am glad the paper is a little thicker, but it seems to warp easy. I, as others, wish there was some other way to indicate proper names than the light grey font. Also, if I am not mistaken, there seems to be a typo at Numbers 6:25 with the last word in the sentence. It wouldn't be big, but it is the priestly blessing, it was noticeable. Hopefully that can be fixed in a next edition. But overall, I am enjoying reading the Hebrew Bible.
The book is great. Amazon's customer service is not.  Oct 6, 2009
This Hebrew Reader is great for anyone who is new to the biblical Hebrew language. It's color coded for Proper nouns and the like. It's a nice quality leather binding also.

However, I paid almost 40 dollars to ship this and a few other books with 1 day shipping. I ordered them on Thursday, and the order did not get processed until Friday night. I didn't receive the order until Wednesday morning. It is almost impossible to get in touch with this site, and when I did, I was told it was the shippers problem, and they would not refund my money. I will never buy another product from this site, and I encourage you to stop as well.

As to what I would have liked to have known before I bought this product, I would have liked to have known I was entering into a business agreement with an unscrupulous corporation, that values 40 dollars over a customer.
A great help for those wanting to use their Hebrew but are afraid to  Sep 11, 2009
I have been using a good number of tools for my exegetical and translation work of the Old Testament. But with this Hebrew edition of the Bible, my work has gotten easier and faster. I indeed welcome the fact that the proper names are so well marked, that I don't need to bother guessing what those Hebrew words are. They are proper names and treat them as their are!

Since I have a good knowledge of the Hebrew Bible vocabulary, I welcome a lot the help in reminding me about words that occur not so often, and one doesn't need to bother learning them. They are right there to help you and continue with what is most important, the work of translation and exegesis.

One practical plus is the fact that this beautiful Bible comes in a box that keeps it safe from dust and damage, especially when you travel.

Excellent study tool  Sep 5, 2009
This is an excellent tool to learn and continue to practice Hebrew skills. It gives a couple of uncommon words in the bottom margin, but in my opinion it's much less distracting than a side by side translation would be. Recommend for seminary and college students alike. The cover is good quality, and it doesn't feel like a cheap book.
