Item Description...
Could the Dalton family truly settle down anywhere? Or was it too late for these wanderers to make a home? Lolly Dalton had never known anything but the nomadic lifestyle her father's restless wandering had provided. The family squatted on one homestead after another across the vast Canadian heartland, never allowing them to settle in any location long enough to establish a home or to develop lasting friendships. Everything changes when the Daltons arrive in Wildrose. Lolly and her brothers somehow know this small Saskatchewan settlement contains the very essence of what "home" is supposed to mean. Certain their father will eventually force the family to pull up stakes again, Lolly takes bold steps to solicit a marriage proposal from wealthy widowed neighbor Kingston Plummer. Her deep desire to stay in Wildrose and to enjoy the long-deprived "finer things" of life clouds her conscience and forces her to ignore the true stirrings of her heart. Meanwhile, a series of unplanned circumstances brings Donal Cardigan to Wildrose. Tired of eking out an existence from stubborn farmland in eastern Canada, Donal seeks the challenge of the untamed west and a home of his own. Yet, through a bizarre turn of events, he is forced to develop a plot of land for a strange elderly man. And even as he grows to love Wildrose and the farm he is working, Donal wants much more-his own land, his own future. Lolly and Donal are at a crucial point in their lives. Each must weigh their personal plans against the will of the God they are learning to believe in and trust. Can they risk giving up their own dreams to find the home they are seeking in the arms of the loving Father-and, perhaps, in each other?

Wildrose continues to provide happy endings  Mar 15, 2001
Lolly is tired of constantly moving about, never settling in one spot, always on the move with her vagabond father. She and her brothers know that life does not have to be this way. When her father lucks up on an abandoned homestead in Wildrose, Lolly and her brothers hope that this will be the last move for them. But in case her father decides to move once more, Lolly has her eye on a wealthy widower who can provide her with all of the comforts and security that Lolly has never known. Meanwhile, Donal, through a series of unfortunate circumstances, also finds himself in Wildrose farming someone else's homestead under false pretenses. The longer that he stays, the more Donal realizes that he wants to settle there and have his own place in the community of Wildrose. Gradually, the Lord convicts both Donal and Lolly to be honest and that security does not have to come in the form of material things. Lolly and Donal are perhaps representative of all of the citizens of Wildrose who have found both the Lord and a place to call home in the Canadian bush town of Wildrose. This book is an excellent addition to the series!
