Item Description...
Sermons of comfort in seasons of confusion. Why do bad things happen to good people? This question has haunted the minds of millions over the course of man's history. Yet,philosophers, politicians, and even pious religious leaders have not been able to answer adequately. God's word has the answer and offers a future and a hope to those who are going through trials, catastrophes, or heartaches.Jon Courson looks at a number of key passages of scripture from which we can learn rich truths that will produce comfort in the midst of confusion. He shares from his own life experiences- having his first wife taken to heaven at age 28, then his 16 year old daughter suddenly taken to heaven some 12 years later. Jon declared he has discovered that our Father is absolutely faithful, our Savior is so very real, and the Spirit is so incredibly comforting in times of trial.

Great Book, Great Author!!  May 7, 2008
This book was wonderful and it helped me through some very tough times in my own life.....Jon Courson Pastors the Church I go to (Applegate Christian Fellowship) and he truely has been an inspiration in my life because he lives it fully for Christ and is a great teacher of the word...The Lord has taught me so much throughout my life through Pastor Jon..I love how the Lord gave him a "Peace that passes all understanding" through some very tragic events (both his wife and daughter were taken to heaven)...The Lord does the same for you and I no matter the situation when we put our hope in him...I gave this book to a few friends of mine as well with some great feedback...Lord Bless You Pastor Jon!
Don't skip this book  Mar 28, 2007
Jon Courson is an excellent Bible Teacher and author. I have heard many, many of his teachings. He wears his heart on his sleeve. I have read this book and it is excellent. I totally agree with the POSITIVE comments left about the book.
good not evil, a future and a hope  Aug 9, 2006
I have enjoy Jon's teaching style. He is always pointing to Jesus as the reason for our hope, inspite of all the confusing, hard, somtimes horrific trials we go through here. He doesn't come from a simplistic, 'smile God loves you' christianese place. He writes from the heart of a man who has experienced grief, anger and doubt, coming to the place of excepting and receiving the "peace that passes understanding" and trusting in the truth and promises of God's word. Jon's teaching style has taught me to see how God's word applies in every situation, big and small. In my everyday life, the small picky things seem to get to me the most. So applying God's word and truth in the small things, builds me up to face whatever may come. Life is hard, but God is the steadfast, faithful one, coming alongside me through it all. I have given this book to so many people. It is easy to read, short chapters packed with truth and life. The last chapter is Jon's personal journey of grief. I appriciate his being willing to share this with the reader. We must always hold out the hope to a world that is hopeless. Thanks Jon!

This book was supposed to be about how religion and faith in god will help you endure tribulations. But sadly it fails.

The author's writing style of continually referring to the readers as "Hey Gang" or "Mates" is very annoying. Examples of his personal tribulations he uses are, of breaking his sandal as he was walking in Palm Springs, or a parishioner saying to him, " I hate you" were very superficial and sallow. Maybe for people in Palm Springs or on the Pacific Ocean coast these are major tribulations, but for the rest of us in the heartland, it is everyday living.

If you want a really good book about enduring overwhelming personal tribulations, I would suggest skipping this book and reading "Left to Tell" : Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust, by Immaculee Ilibagiza. This book will touch your heart and have tears rolling down your cheeks.
