Item Description...
Overview
The Grammy-nominated, Stellar Award-winning Deitrick Haddon decided that his third Verity release, 7 Days, would speak to both the church and urban audience. Not to worry, this pastor's child has not left the church behind in any way. One listen to the track "True Worship" (which is backed by a full choir) and there will be no doubt of his love of the good word.

Make no mistake, however, as Deitrick's 7 Days leans heavily on the contemporary side as well. "DD" makes no apologies for wanting to reach out to the urban audience through contemporary beats and rhythms with a spiritually directed and moving message.

This release reinforces Haddon's exceptional range as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. Focus tracks include the dynamic vocal and topically relevant lyrics on "Heaven Knows," "Heavenly Father" and the aforementioned "True Worship."

7 Days was executive produced by Tim and Bob whose production credits include work with Joe, Bobby Valentino, Brian McKnight, Brandy, Tyrese and Whitney Houston, to name a few. Deitrick and his brother Gerald (who is also a member of Gospo Centric's Soul Seekers) are producers on the project as well.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Change is a bit much...  Mar 14, 2007
I absolutely agree with the reviewers who gave this album a low rating, mainly because Deitrick's sound was put in the hands of R&B producers, therefore churning out music that just doesn't fit. I miss the "Crossroads," and "Lost and Found" Deitrick. What this album is, is Bobby Valentino's album. I invite anyone to listen to both and tell me I'm wrong. Thanks, Tim & Bob. At least J. Moss can produce a gospel track and an R&B track, and we're able to tell the difference--and not by just SOUND either. I still loooove Deitrick Haddon, but this album was a slight letdown.

A Very Inspirational Album  Feb 23, 2007
The first time that I heard this album, I fell in love with it. Every track on this CD is beautiful, he is just an amazing artist. Lost & Found was a great disc, but 7 days just made me love him even more. He worked with some great producers. Deitrick, keep on making great hits. God's annoiting is truly on you.

This is a great album that I highly recommend  Feb 12, 2007
This is a great album that I highly recommend. Clever mid-tempo grooves deep enough to swim in so feel free to invest in that sub-woofer you always wanted. And Deitrick Haddon can truly sing, supported by honey-sweet backing vocals. I love the inlay card, clean and classy with honest admission of secular as well as gospel influences. It's said that in comparison to his previous releases `Lost and Found' and `Crossroads', `7 Days' is Deitrick Haddon toning it down a bit, yet it still exceeds anything out there, both secular and gospel. As far as cutting edge is concerned, this is the blade not the hilt.

The choppy `7 Days' poses cutely at the outset, letting you know Mr Haddon is plying his trade outside the safe four walls of a church. Backed up by the dynamic `Count Your Blessings' you are in good hands. `Heavenly Father' drops a sound that shows Deitrick is thinking outside the box. The brave gritty 70s cut `Heaven Knows' with vinyl hiss effect begs to be a classic, as Mr Haddon lets rip what's on his heart. `Clap Your Hands' is a leg-shaker a la Dawkins and Dawkins.

The awesome `Help Somebody' simply throbbed through the air, cut to the marrow, put a smile on my face and made me feel proud of where gospel music currently is at and where Deitrick Haddon is pushing it. Hear that once and you'll buy the album.

Stronger musically, but weaker lyrically, & spiritually  Jan 11, 2007
If this review seems harsh or overly critical, it is not meant to be. I only want to give my honest review of a ministry I hold in high esteem and loving confront him as Paul did to Peter as recorded in Galatians 2. Here is my review:
Is it Deitrick or isn't? That's what this album had me thinking. I am a strong supporter of his music ministry and even began looking for his older stuff with Voices of Unity. Yet, this album was very different than anything else he had ever released. Deitrick's songs are usually simple in nature but deep in spiritual essence, true to this life in practicality, but fill with the praises of the heavenly world spiritually. His old album had only one short coming- Deitrick's shameless self-promotion and efforts to build name recognition. (Thankfully, 7 days has none of this.) But to overcome this I always skipped the first track of his CDs and enjoyed the music. So when 7 Days came out, I naturally jumped on it. I found this CD amazingly hard to find in many Christian bookstores and had to order it online.
So here is the bottomline:
1- Musically, 7 Days is far superior to anything he has ever relased previous.
2- Vocally, some might argue that his vocals are stronger than ever, and I would have to agree. Deitrick has always had a unique and wonderful voice. And this album is no exception. Mixed with the improved music, you might even say his vocals sound better than ever.
3- Lyrically, this is the first major downfall. The songs on 7 Days did not possess the depth, passion, and ministry that his 3 previous albums did (Chainbreaker, Lost & Found (his masterpiece), and Crossroads (this one showed signs of what happened with 7 Days)). And was also of an extremely repetitious nature. (A throwback to when 'Black Gospel' didn't have to much to say, but repeated it over and over.) One track was just plain political in nature (Heaven Knows).
4- Spiritually, the true worship element was missing. Yes, I know it had songs like Heavenly Father, but none of it seemed to be birthed out of his prayer closet. In other words, it seemed to be birthed out of human efforts to produce something spiritual in nature and not genuinely generated in the Spirit with His anointing and power. (Those who have the spiritual ears to hear know exactly what I am talking about on this issue.) Just because a singer is talented does not mean he/ she is anointed. Don't get me wrong, I believe that music ministry is Deitrick's calling and where the anointing of God rests on his life, but this album missed that anointing.
4- And lastly, Theologically. God created the world in 6 days, not 7 (as this album proclaims over and over). Some may say this is a nitpick issue, but it needs to be said because it is an issue of truth versus error. Aside from the clear account in Genesis 1, God said in Exodus 20: 11, "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth". That's the truth and we can't sacrifice it.
Conclusion: It's a good album, but not a great album. It's an inspirational album, but not an anointed album. That said, I will still support Deitrick's music ministry and will pray for the spiritual growth that will enable him to win millions to Christ.
